Welcome to my visual universe !

I am Claudia Bertou, Venezuelan artist, with more than 10 years in the world of photography.

I like to create images where the chiaroscuro emerges and expresses itself in an artistic way, where time oscillates between classic and contemporary. I enjoy adding decorative, antique or natural details.  I play with colors and composition in a scene that transports the viewer to a timeless, classic and feminine universe. I include natural elements such as exotic plants and flowers, which represent part of my tropical roots, a personal seal that identifies my work. At the end of each photograph, I try to give it an artistic and poetic expression.

I invite you to visit my website, get to know me and we can create beautiful images together.

New exhibition in Barcelone!

08 to 22 december 2023

Originally from Venezuela, graduated as a graphic designer and tourism administration. I first work in tourism where I discovered the splendid natural and tropical landscapes of my country and by the same occasion the practice of photography. I then decided to continue my formal studies in photography in Venezuela and then in France. I currently work between Nantes, Caracas and Orlando.

My photographic work is spread between studio portraits, still life compositions and botanical images. I create atmospheres where time seems suspended, situating my compositions between a classical art inspired by Renaissance paintings and a contemporary art where touches of nature inspired by my Caribbean roots (exotic flowers, greenery, and elements of our daily life symbolizing life) are mixed.

With attention to detail, my images emphasize certain colors such as reds, greens and blues that complement and harmonize with each other. Moreover, the compositions emphasize the harmony that testifies to a certain simplicity and generates sobriety and beauty.

Each of my images seeks to express a poetic nuance and allows my nostalgia to find refuge in photography.
